Full-Time – Some Weekends Required

Position Summary
The Activities Assistant (CNA) supports the Activity Director in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating activity programs that promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of residents. This role involves direct interaction with residents and families, careful observation and documentation of resident participation, and collaboration with staff and community partners to support meaningful engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating activity programs for residents.

  • Observe and document resident attendance, mood, behavior, and level of involvement to help assess progress and preferences.

  • Involve residents and their families in the planning of activities and individual engagement goals.

  • Interview residents and/or family members to obtain activity history, interests, and preferences.

  • Participate in community planning efforts related to facility interests and resident needs, as assigned.

  • Implement activity policies and procedures in accordance with direction from the Activity Director.

  • Provide supervision and support for the volunteer program, including orientation and coordination of volunteer activities.

  • Collaborate with nursing and other facility staff and assist with resident care and support as needed within CNA scope of practice.

Qualifications

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.

  • Previous experience in activities, recreation, or a related area, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, staff, and volunteers.

  • Ability to engage residents in a respectful, patient, and person-centered manner.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Prior experience in a long-term care, skilled nursing, or hospital environment preferred.

Additional Requirements

This is a full-time position and includes some weekend coverage as part of the regular schedule.
